Business Intelligence
Business Intelligence - Microsoft Dynamics NAV has a built-in data warehouse for analysis of financial data and warehouse transactions using so-called Dimensions. Dimension can be any parameter (cost or profit center, project manager, order, calculation formula, etc.) which can be assigned to any transaction in the system.
Data recorded this way may be viewed from many angles using various user-defined views. It is possible e.g. to easily analyze cost/profit center economy by periods, projects’ profits based on a given calculation formula, evaluate project managers and the like.
Tools for viewing such data are contained directly in the information system or it is possible to export the data to MS Excel and work with them in a pivot table.
Using the Business Analytics tool it is possible to utilize more advanced technologies to create a Management Information System (MIS). Here are exploited the OLAP technologies of Microsoft SQL Server. In this case is created an external data warehouse in a desired structured form for subsequent analyses. From this data warehouse it is possible to read the data in the MS Excel environment in the form of a pivot table or a specialized external client which allows working with data in a graphical environment. This client also allows creating user-defined reports and views and basic company indicators.
